JudgeT- I suspected it was Abe Lincoln also, but don't remember
him doing what the prof. says, in Abe's bio. I don't remember!!
Jessica Simpson and her daddy is what happened to the Cowboys.
Tony was probably up all nite sat. nite chit chatting with the
twit and did't get any sleep. Jessica even being at a football
game is the joke of the century. She would much rather be at the
Mall, anyday, anytime. Her first marriage failed because her
husband, Nick was a sports nut deluxe and little Jessie couldn't stand it. Also Daddy ran Nick off, and Jessica has been lonely
and unhappy and her career is zero, so daddy hooked her up with
Tony with his bank account in mind. I read Tony has fallen hard
and is smitten with J.S. The poor guy needs an intervention
Help Save Tony and the Cowboys!!!!

BH, sounds like he is talking about Abe Lincoln. Cheney was a pretty good secretary of defense under the elder Bush, but I tend to agree with you under the present Bush.
What happened to our Cowboys this past weekend?
Posted by: JudgeT | December 17, 2007 at 05:54 PM
History Prof* are you talking about the president who left home,
the farm in Tenn. at age 15 because he hated his father, who used
him like slave labor? and beat him alot? Then he married and his
wife hated him because he was never home? I was there in one of
my past lives, as a lawyer, but dang I can't remember his name.
Thanks alot for the interesting story, you could of at least told us
his name. I am one of the youngest baby boomers now, but I remember
the corruption and deceit of our Government from the 60's and 70's
which spilled over into the press. I think this Country is on the
right path to exposing corruption in the political arena, thanks
in a large part to the press, since the Nixon administration.
I think, in my opinion, that V.P. Dick Cheney is the most corrupted
individual both in Politics and Business on this Planet and is the
major reason the Bush administration is failing. Wyoming my butt,
and it is taking a Million dollars a year of our tax money just to
keep the man alive, with his free medical care from the government.

Wow, my first reading of this blog. I see a bunch of folks with zero facts trying to argue with a well informed person (TXsharon)by calling her names. If they want to have their opinions considered come back with some facts - not opinions or name calling.
Oil, gas and drilling waste do not mix with water - if you doubt that try drinking such a mix. I have a very nice deep well in Alvord that has to run for an hour before the foul odor goes away. Ordor caused by previous drilling. Drinking it is not something I can do.
T. Boon Pickens is buying up all the water rights he can find. When he and his fellow drillers have screwed up all our drinking water he will be glad to sell you his and if you think gas is high just wait to you have to buy water from these guys. Here is one story on Mr. Pickens; http://www.kvii.com/news/news_story.aspx?id=47705 There are plenty more if the shouters here want to check it out for themselves.
If we are concerned not only for our own water supply, but also our children's and grandchildren's it is past time to place better oversight onto the gas and oil drilling folks. Under the current laws and regulations in Texas they are pissing up stream from our drinking water and we are doing zip about it. If we think the political folks now in office care, check out where their campaign money comes from, that is who they work for.

Typical Sharon! You completely ignored my questions, just like you ignored my question about why Jim Popp is a hero for shutting down one more injection well. We are paying for those man made lakes. You are just taking, just like the farmers & the rich people who don't want to be bound by restrictions on watering their grass or filling their swimming pools. And to again accuse us of being predators is riddiculous. Yes we "monitor" these boards, mostly for people like you posting misinformation. Show me one example where we have told someone how to handle their lease. Most of my discussions have been with Bev, who unfortunately already signed her lease.

Landman2: I’m all for making water more expensive as long as those who are living in poverty have access to the water they need. Not all operators pay for water and especially not in the rural areas. They just drill a well and pump, see picture here http://www.texaskaos.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=2938#14332 I hope SB-714 will help change that.
Making it more difficult to dispose of the water in the injection wells will also force operators to recycle.
In the end and sooner than we think, we will run out of hydrocarbons, of that, there is no doubt, and we will survive without them. Without water, we won’t survive.
BH: Thank you for your concern about me.
The problem with the “man-made lakes and dams” is that it takes rain to fill those. What we are currently doing, removing ENORMOUS amounts from our available water budget, is not conducive to producing rain. I’m corresponding with some research scientists now. The consequences for continuing this practice are heavy.

BH, there is an excellent editorial by President (Robin Forte) of the AAPL in this months Landman magazine entitled "will lack of ethics lead to licensing".
Scott (Blog Editor), could you contact AAPL (www.landman.org) and try to get a copy to post on this blog somewhere. It is an excellent piece. You might need Mr. Forte's permission to post but it sure is timely based on some of the posts on this blog whatever one's perspective. Mr. Forte is a Certified Landman who as President of AAPL has promoted certification, ethics, honesty through the AAPL. The quick buck artists have given the true professionals a bad name, sort of like the baseball playes who use steriods and those who do not. Thanks.

A lot of wisdom in what you say BH. Life is short, so as the old golfer Walter Hagan said back in the 1930's, "take time to stop and smell the roses each day". It is Friday, and I am fairly happy about that. Have a good one.

Sharon - if you know the worth of water, then tell us how much you pay for what you currently use? The water solution is just like gasoline's solution. If you make it more expensive, then people will conserve & drillers will recycle. As I pointed out, at least when the drillers buy it, they are paying for the future development of more water sources. Are you?
Posted by: Landman 2 | December 13, 2007 at 06:13 PM
Sure but, they probably wouldn't kill to run the heat in their homes but they will kill for a drink of water.
They will LEARN THE WORTH OF WATER http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2007/11/drought.html
The government projects that at least 36 states will face water shortages within five years because of a combination of rising temperatures, drought, population growth, urban sprawl, waste and excess.
I know the worth of water and I hope others are listening and thinking about it.
Posted by: TXsharon | December 13, 2007 at 05:26 PM
"That's a lot of water that we are wasting."
Some would argue that using water to produce a form of energy many Americans use to heat their homes is not considered wasting it.
Posted by: JW | December 13, 2007 at 12:21 PM
My "first grade" research is not really mine. I dig around until I find the most current, rock solid research like the numbers I quoted for water usage:
"400 Million gallons per day of waste water is produced by the oil and gas industry in Texas alone from a study by David B. Burnett (Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering, Texas A&M). That fresh, clean water is polluted then injected approx. 1.5 miles into the earth under a 250' containment formation where it stays PERMANENTLY. That water is not recycled like your bath water--it's GONE forever!"
The water usage information didn't come from me. It came from David B. Burnett, Director of Technology Global Petroleum Research Institute. http://www.gpri.org/
The information about the injection well and the 250' containment barrier came from the RRC website. http://www.rrc.state.tx.us/faqs/saltwaterwells.html
I confirmed via email with Doug Johnson, RRC, that the intent is that the water remain there permanently. "The purpose of injecting waste water produced during oil and gas exploration and production operations is to permanently dispose of the material by injecting it into deep porous formations well below any fresh or useable water that contain unusable fluid."
I also consulted with Dr. Paul F. Hudak who wrote Principles of Hydrogeology about the hydrologic cycle.
Here's more 1st grade stuff:
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, water used to produce Barnett Shale gas in Denton County averages 2,226 gallons per million cubic feet of gas. Overall, the Barnett Shale average is 1,638 gallons per million cubic feet of gas. Some estimates say that the Barnett Shale has 30 trillion cubic feet of gas. I dont have the math skills to accurately calculate the water usage, but I get somewhere around 491,400,000,000 gallons of water.
200 million barrels of produced water worldwide each day (Burnett 2007). That adds up to over 73 billion barrels per year.
42 gallons in a barrel
73,000,000,000 X 42 = 3,066,000,000,000 gal of water/year
That's a lot of water that we are wasting. If I worked in the oil and gas industry, I would spend energy trying to figure out a better way rather than making personal attacks.

Dear Patty, as I mentioned in a previous post, when you put your opinion in a blog for all to see, it will make some people very angry (this is magnified for racial issues in a county where they want to hang the Confederate flag in the courthouse) and they might tend to write things about you that aren’t necessarily true—you, Patty, might be a poster child for this example. If those people are caught with their panties down, then they will invest a great deal of effort in trying to prove you wrong—you might be a poster child for this example or maybe you can explain why you are throwing so much effort at little old me. Who funds you that you have so much time to spend Googling and reading tripe about me? Are you funded by the polluters? If so, I must be doing something right that you are spending so much time trying to slander me personally rather than disputing the information I provide.
Political affiliation is not always a predictor of racism. Racism is not found only in the Republican Party although they certainly do an excellent job of it.
I do not know what you mean by this: “You are not telling the truth about being unchallenged by the major Barnett Shale players.”
Please remember that Barnett Shale drilling started in Wise County long before it started in Fort Worth so I’ve had years to learn the little dab of information I know. I receive no funding from any source. Honestly, I wish to hell I did because I could sure use the money. If you know a source that might provide funding, I’m all ears.
Patty, I don’t care if you believe me. There are millions of people just like me who spend part of their time researching and sharing information because we are responsible, concerned citizens who want to make a difference for our children’s futures. Get over it.
Posted by: TXsharon | December 12, 2007 at 04:41 PM
I do not believe you.
How about race baiting two independents and one dem, see
http://sandflat.blogspot.com/2006_10_16_archive.html
You are not telling the truth about being unchallenged by the major Barnett Shale players.
Where do you find the time to gather all these facts if you are a full time mother and hold a full time job, unless you receive funding from a source you are afraid to reveal?
Posted by: patty | December 11, 2007 at 09:14 PM
If there is inaccurate information on Bluedaze, please call it to my attention and I will gladly issue corrections. I'm certain the same is true for Don Young and FWCanDO.
Everyday my blog is read by 2 petroleum engineers, a lawyer and a geologist in a position of note with the RRC. They assure me that all is accurate. It is also read on a daily basis by most of the major players in the Barnett Shale and their lawyers. No one has yet contacted me with anything they found that was inaccurate.
You may not like the information we provide but that doesn't mean it's false.
I would not compare a barn to air and water. I can live without a barn.

Sherri; OK I'll play, but I think you pushed a wrong button and
wound up in the Barnett shale blog by accident.
Lets see, We all know Mary had a little lamb, and the Old Woman
who lived in a shoe had 12 kids, and wasn't there some Chinese
proverb about little piggie's and a wolf? but wait, am I off your
subject? whatever the hell it is????

To Don young, TxSharon, B. Humphries and Alice Wonders
"Any jackass can kick down a barn, but it takes a good carpenter to build one." Sam Rayburn
Don't tell people what to do. The gifted don't need it, and others can't take it.

B. Humphries might wish to study a little history. We are a republic.
From 1861-1865 one of greatest Presidents suspended the writ of Habeus Corpus (right to jury trial), shut down newspapers, threw editors of newspapers in jail, and hung 200 plus for what were considered activities considered treason to the republic.
From what I read on some of this blog maybe we need a man like that again until people straighten up.

Bh, ever watch Keith Olbermann on MSNBC on Countdown, or Fox News. We get propaganda from both sides, even in a democrazy.
Posted by: Clint | December 07, 2007 at 04:09 PM
B, we are fed propaganda from all sides every day in the news media. What Don posts is propaganda as well, as well as the other side. Did you read my other comment on the race track?
Posted by: Nick | December 07, 2007 at 04:06 PM
The all knowing JW has blessed us with his profound wisdom again.
There is always two sides to every Story and Issue, an important
issue is worthy of Debate, whether in a blog or a Court of Law.
The need to use "propaganda" in a Democracy is absurd.
Posted by: BH | December 07, 2007 at 03:15 PM
'Unbiased'? The very nature of your site is bias and is full of 'propaganda'. Just because you happen to agree with the information doesn't mean it isn't biased.
I agree that Mr. Powell spins info to support the industry but you spin things to support your positions.
Posted by: JW | December 07, 2007 at 01:21 PM
Don, we need accurate factual information, not fairy tales.
You get what you pay for and in the case of your website the value would be zero, so it should be free.
