Watauga Area Mineral Rights Association (WAMRA), which has already reported offers from Holland Acquisitions on behalf of XTO Energy, says Spartan Geophysical has jumped into the area with an offer for $13,000 per acre and a 25 percent royalty. It is the second time in as many weeks that Spartan has surfaced. Barely a week ago a homeowner in Parkwood Hill Estates, a north Fort Worth neighborhood just west of Watauga, reported an identical offer from Spartan, which lists a southwest Fort Worth address. WAMRA organizer Cheron Stults, in a posting on the group's Web site, said she is encouraged that the new offer suggests the area is gaining visibility, but recommended that homeowners not sign a lease, but instead work with the organization.
WAMRA consists of members in the Greenfield Village neighborhood of Watauga, which is just northeast of the intersection for U.S. 377 and Watauga Road. The group is also close to Grace Hardeman Elementary and Watauga Middle School. Stults has said XTO's offer includes a per-acre bonus of $10,000 and a 25 percent royalty as part a standard three-year lease with a two-year option. The option would pay another $10,000 bonus. In Parkwood Hill Estates, a neighborhood of fewer than 100 homes, one homeowner reported that a landman said Spartan has been active in Oklahoma. The landman said that about 150 residents have signed in an area roughly bounded by Teal on the west. North Tarrant Parkway on the north, Indiana Springs Road on the east and Chapman on the south. That area includes the Park Glen development. Parkwood Hill has scheduled a meeting Thursday, July 24, to discuss leasing at Alliance Baptist Church, 8400 Park Vista Blvd., at 7 p.m.

I would like to know what is happening as of may 2009. I haven't heard anything from Wamra or anyone else. Is the group still working on a deal?

We received an offer to sing from Emercor Land, LLC for $13K per acre 25% royalties,
Non-surface drilling + 1950.00 bonus upon verification of full ownership of mineral rights. We are in Watauga West of 377 off Whitley.
Is this a legitimate drilling company? or are they brokers who will forward lease for more funds?
Is there an organized group handling this neighborhood in Watauga?

We too signed with Spartan & have been left high & dry. They never paid the sign-on bonus. Their phone numbers are disconnected & they don't answer their emails. I have filed a complaint with the BBB & have contacted the Secretary of State's office. After more research, I will also look into sumbitting a complaint to the Attorney General.

Okay, I have gotten a flyer from XTO energy, but I see signs in neighboring yards saying not to sign and to wait. How long do we wait....when do we sign...? Do we have the option to sign with different companies? Are they offering different amounts? Can someone please answer questions on this blog if you know the situation? Thanks.

I just got a flyer in my door yesterday from petroleum landman with Petrocasa Energy. I need more information about mineral rights and leasing before signing anything.

If Watauga citizens were smart they would sign with a company that has been in the barnett shale for years not one that showed up over night. Spartans main attempt is to sell any and all leases taken by the company to XTO for more then we will pay the customer. This could easily turn into a situation were half the city doesn't get drilled because some people jumped on with another company.

Cheron, Said: WAMRA organizer Cheron Stults "recommended that homeowners not sign a lease, but instead work with the organization." How do we get a hold of the organization, and after we get a hold of them what kind of questions should we ask?
