In the Barnett Shale, active drilling rigs this week were unchanged at 42. Wise County was busiest, with 10 rigs, followed by Tarrant and Jack counties with five each, and Denton, Parker and Montague with four each.
Active drilling rigs in the U.S. declined by two, to 1,835, although rigs seeking crude oil rose by 13 and U.S. oil production was the highest since 1995. There were 1,411 rigs drilling for oil and 422 drilling for gas, down 15, according to Baker Hughes Inc.
