Chesapeake Energy today said it laid off about 800 employees nationwide, with 640 of those coming at its Oklahoma City headquarters, The Oklahoman reported. CEO Doug Lawler told the newspaper it has about 11,000 employees nationwide after the cuts, including 3,500 in Oklahoma City. Approximately 40 employees are affected at Chesapeake's Barnett Shale operations, which are headquartered in Fort Worth and had about 500 workers as of the end of 2012. The Oklahoman's story is here.
