'I wanted him locked way and never heard from again'
For Quintarick Wilson’s mother, this summer has been marked with reminders of the life her son (right) could have had.
On June 6, Tretobia Sharkey sat in her son’s chair at Sam Houston High School’s graduation ceremony and walked across the stage to receive a diploma on his behalf. A couple of weeks later, she celebrated what would have been his 19th birthday.
And last week, she attended the sentencing of DeAngelo Cortez Morton, 20, who pleaded guilty to engaging in organized criminal activity/murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Wilson on Sept. 15 at a house party in Arlington.
Police said the killing stemmed from a disagreement between rival gangs.
Morton was sentenced to 30 years in prison, leaving Sharkey displeased.
"I didn’t think it was enough time," she said Tuesday. "I think since I can’t ever see my son again, I wanted him locked way and never heard from again. That’s what I feel.
"Thirty years was not enough time for the pain that he’s caused me and my family."
