The name Gotti is synonymous with organized crime in New York, and Tuesday it was back in the news.
On Tuesday, a law enforcement official said that John A. "Junior" Gotti, 44, was arrested on charges connecting him with three New York murders. The FBI arrested Gotti at his Long Island home, according to reports.
According to the official, who spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity, federal authorities in Florida are expected to announce a racketeering indictment that charges Gotti with murder conspiracy in connection with killings in the late 1980s and early '90s. It's not the first time authorities have tried to convict Gotti Jr.
"They tried very hard to convict him up here. They spared no resources and it didn't work," said Gotti's attorney, Charles Carnesi, who said he had not seen the charges or spoken with Gotti.
"It's tragic for him and his family to have to continually go through this. It's almost laughable," Carnesi said.
Gotti Jr.'s father was the late "Dapper Don" John Gotti, the onetime Gambino family boss.
