Seconds after a south Florida circuit judge ordered a man to jail Friday morning, the man bolted from the courtroom, jumped into a nearby river and drowned.
According to officials, the judge had just ordered the man to wait in jail until further proceedings.
But he ran out of the Fort Lauderdale courtroom before deputies could handcuff him.
He then ran about 500 feet north toward the New River.
