Reyes, 21, receives an automatic life sentence.
Reyes was convicted of killing Melanie Goodwin in September 2007. The young woman was raped and strangled, and her body was set on fire.
Goodwin, 19 and a 2006 graduate of Bowie High School in Arlington, was a radio, television and film major at UNT.

I'd like to see the U.S. government get busy and stop MX extradition which prevents the death penalty.Murder is murder and as much as I support the death penalty being given to Eric Davila for the haneous crimes at Village Creek, Ms. Stevenson and those babies,Reyes, the killer of Miss Griffin, the murdered college student,Reyes isn't special and he too should have to die..he's slick and he knew to kill, burn the body and then hurry to MX to avoid the death penalty. This stinks.

I am so glad justice was served on this day. Her family, friends and I have waited so long. We know you are looking down on us Melanie and you are more beautiful than ever. We love and miss you so much!
