Stacy Horton faced that dilemma when he arrived at the scene of where his wife's car had cartwheeled down an embankment and into the Whangui River. He dove after his son in the car, but couldn't reach him at first. He could hear his wife in struggling to stay above water.
What did he do? Read The Times of London report here.

That's a horrible headline, as it makes him out to seem like it was almost no decision to save the wife. I can't imagine ever having to be in a situation like this, where you ultimately know that your best is still going to lead to a horrid outcome. Hopefully this guy will pull through it. I know the wife will deal with her own grief, but probably not like the guy who had to make the choice once the realization that his son wasn't coming out of it. Man, this sucks.
