The New York Post reports that a Mafia associate who helped with an armored car robbery in the 1980s, was arrested the day after Christmas after responding to an ad on Craigslist from a man wanting to sell an engagement ring.
The paper reports that the alleged gangster, Gerald DeGerolamo, 65, met the seller at a prearranged location and then -- when the ring was produced -- sprayed the seller with Mace, grabbed the ring, and ran off.
A witness alerted police who then arrested DeGerolamo and returned the ring to its owner, David Cushman.
