A British clergyman is catching a lot of criticism for advising his congregation to shoplift if they were desperate during the recession. That's better than mugging, prostitution or burglary, he told his flock following his nativity sermon.
But he had one admonishment: Steal only from large chain stores, not local merchants, the Daily Mail reported.

So, then, should they also steal from the offering plate?
One wonders why the priest is not urging instead generosity and compassion from those who are able to share. Perhaps he forgot that someone (now who was it?) said: "Let those with two tunics share with those who have none."
