I like it hot, but never with a side of pesticide.
A woman has pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to twice serve pesticide-laced salsa to customers at the Mi Ranchito restaurant in Lenexa, Kansas. At total of 48 diners were sickened on those occasions.
Yini De La Torre, 19, of Shawnee, told the court that she twice doctored the salsa with the deadly poison while working as a waitress there. She pleaded guilty to one count of tampering with a consumer product.
She agreed to testify against her husband, Arnoldo Bazan, whose case is pending. In her plea, de la Torre said that she and Bazan tried to poison the customers to get even with the restaurant's owner, who they blamed for Bazan losing his job and for the theft of Bazan's vehicle, the Kansas City Star reported.
