The attorney for a woman accused of strangling her children to death in Irving last week will pursue an insanity defense, it was revealed Friday during Saiga Akhter's first court appearance, KTVT/Channel 11 reported.
Akter is accused of killing her 5-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter. She was heard on a 911 recording released by police telling an operator that she killed them because they were autistic and that she wanted normal children.
The judge denied a request by her attorney that bail be lowered from $1 million on each count, but the judge denied that request, Channel 11 reported.

I often wonder why it is after hrrible crimes are commited people do not take accountability for their actions instead they just find away to go around the accountability and plea out to something else such as insanity... you would think one would have to be insane to hurt those innocewnt babies however shhe sounded calm and clear as day on her 911 recordings..... i hope they throw the book at her she deserves it... you see the problems with people today is there is never any accountability back in the good old days it was an eye for an eye but these days people do not have to be accountable...

This poor woman deserves top quality mental health treatment right up to her execution.
