Anthony Conley, now 18, (right) admitted to authorities late last year that he was inspired by the television series about a serial killer, "Dexter."
A prosecutor said Conley identified with the show's main character, Dexter Morgan, a Miami crime scene expert who doubles as a serial killer.
This is the second murder that was allegedly inspired by "Dexter," AP reported. The other one happened 2008 in Canada.
The show's executive producer, told reporters that this was a "worst fears" situation, and one that the show's creators "worried about from the beginning," according to the AP.
In interviews with investigators, Conley also allegedly likened his desire to kill to a craving a person gets when they want a particular food.
"He analogized the murder to when someone wants a hamburger," a prosecutor remarked. "He said that when someone wants a hamburger they've just got to have it."
