California man accused of trying to kill his sister with a chainsaw

A Redding, California man is accused of attempted murder after he allegedly chased his sister with a chainsaw.

TV news station KRCR reports that Kelly J. Mellott, 47, had an argument with his 45-year-old sister when he threatened her with a chainsaw.

He proceeded to force her on a bed and place the running saw inches away from her face.

Luckily, the woman was able to get away uninjured and called police.

Mellott remains in the Shasta County Jail for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and terrorist threats. Bail is set at $500,000.
