A former special agent in the criminal investigative division of the EPA in Dallas has been charged with lying under oath and obstructing justice, the Department of Justice has announced. The charges came in connection with the EPA's investigation of a Louisiana company, Canal Refining. Armed federal agents, along with the EPA investigator and an FBI agent, raided the facility and accused the company managing of knowingly storing hazardous waste. But the government later asked that the case be dismissed, and company manager filed a malicious prosecution lawsuit. The indictment against the agent says that he lied in testimony when he said that he wasn't having an affair with the FBI agent, and he told the agent to deny the affair.
