Arlington police said farewell last week to Vic, an active-duty K9 officer who served for six years before cancer overtook him.
On Thursday, K9 Unit Officer Wade Hardin spoke to the media about Vic as well as the K9 program. The video below includes photos of Vic as well as videos and photos of other dogs from Arlington and other police departments in action.
Vic was the first Arlington K9 officer to die while in active service. Hardin described Vic and other K9 officers as "giant flashlights," who work in areas that officers cannot reach. The dogs are also expensive, and the Arlington Police Foundation is raising funds to buy a third dog to replace Vic.
