DENTON- Human remains were found Saturday in a Denton field behind a grocery store, police said.
Police were called shortly after noon to the south section of the Rayzor Ranch development area east of Interstate 35 and south of University Drive, said Ryan Grelle, public information officer with Denton Police.
A man walking in a field behind the store discovered the remains and called police, Grelle said.
Investigators do not yet know an age or gender but said it appears the remains could have been there a while.
Grelle said as with all deceased person calls, the department is treating this case as a homicide.
The remains have been sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner for DNA testing.
“In the meantime, we are looking through active missing person cases and will be contacting other agencies about missing person cases,” Grelle said.
