FORT WORTH - A jury concluded that an Arlington man acted in "sudden passion" in the stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend during a fight, and sentenced him to two years in prison.
The jury in Criminal District Court #1 convicted Henry Hernandez, 27, last week of murder in the death of Said "Alex" Mahmood, 38. But the conviction was reduced to a second-degree felony by the finding of "sudden passion" by the jury on Friday, according to the Tarrant County district attorney's office.
"We were very pleased the jury found Mr. Hernandez guilty of murder but the family was obviously very disappointed in the light sentence for the loss of their brother and son," said Assistant District Attorney Michele Hartmann, in a written statement.
Hernandez's attorney could not be reached early Monday for comment.

Jealousy does not seem to be a good enough excuse to give someone a slap on the wrist for taking the life of another!!!

Did this article at one point state that this was a "shooting death?" i linked it on facebook and there it says "shooting death" but now i read that it was a stabbing death. i would think there's a big difference between the two when determining a "passion" crime. i'm just trying make sure i'm not going crazy here!
