FORT WORTH - A Fort Worth teen who tried to run down an officer with his car while fleeing the scene of a home burglary has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Armando Marmoleo III, 17, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault of a public servant, burglary and robbery and was sentenced Wednesday in the 372nd district court.
A second teen, Jose Juan Lara, also 17, of Fort Worth, was sentenced to six years probation after pleading guilty to participating in the robbery and burglary.
Police were alerted by a neighbor on May 23, 2011 that a burglary was in progress at a home in the 1800 block of Kinsbrook Trail in Fort Worth. As an officer arrived, two men were seen running from the home. They jumped into a car and tried to run over the police officer, who fired several shots at them, police said.
After a chase into Arlington, the car crashed in the 400 block of Hamilton Circle, and the two youths were arrested. They were treated for minor gunshot wounds at the scene, police said.
