A Kerrville man has been indicted by a Tarrant County grand jury in the hit-and-run death of a Watauga woman who was left to die on the side of the Airport Freeway.
Christopher John Hughes, 31, was indicted Thursday in the death of Tonya Page, 29, on Aug. 29, 2010. He is charged with negligent homicide and with leaving the scene of an accident that caused serious bodily injury.
Page, who was married with two children, was found on the shoulder of the highway in Bedford near the Brown Trail overpass. Investigators said she and her husband had been swimming at a Hurst residence earlier in the evening.
The medical examiner's office ruled that she had been struck by a vehicle and died of a head injury.
Hughes is also facing charges in Tarrant County of family violence and evading arrest in February 2011 and with another charge of family violence in April.
