The parents of a Southwest High School student fatally shot by the burglars he disturbed in his home tearfully told jurors Monday of a son who loved his family, friends and church.
"Every single night he would come and tell me he loved me before he went to bed," Debbie Forrester testified about her son, Eric Forrester.
Jurors in state District Judge Robb Catalano's courtroom are weighing punishment for Broderick Deon Patterson, 18, who pleaded guilty to murder in the death of Eric Forrester on April 12, 2010.
The jury will decide punishment for Patterson, who could face up to life in prison.
The courtroom was packed with friends and family of Eric Forrester, who was a member of Southwest's swim team.
Eric Forrester and his sister went home for lunch and interrupted a burglary in progress. Patterson and co-defendant Clifton Elliott said the gun went off by accident but each said the other pulled the trigger.

Where was Al Sharpton and MSNBC when this young white highschool boy was shot by two black men in his own house. It's OK with Al Sharpton and MSNBC if white kids are killed by black gangsters.

If they both pulled the trigger, then they should both do the life sentence, and I hope it's without parole

The NAACP remains silent on this crime because they don't want the truth to be known. And Broderick looks just like Obama's son...

Al Sharpton was probably covering a story about people NOT getting justice after someone was killed. We all know for a fact that the young man who shot Eric Forrester is going to get what he deserves and he deserves to go to prison. Dont attempt to make Al Sharpton or the NAACP look racist. Im sure this is not ok with either Mr Sharpton, MSNBC, nor the NAACP. You sound like you comments were made out of anger.
