SWAT and crisis negotiation teams responded to an incident in Mansfield early Saturday that led to police removing a 3-year-old from the home and a taking a 24-year-old man into custody.
Mansfield police were called to the 2900 block of Rocky Creek Drive at 2:20 a.m. after a person called dispatch and said a man had pointed a hand gun at another person and threatened him.
Upon arrival, officers attempted to contact the man but he refused to come out of the house and speak with the officers.
SWAT and crisis negotiation teams were called to help but the man still refused to communicate so SWAT entered the home, removed the child and took the man into custody without further incident.
Police have identified the man as Angel Rivera of Mansfield.
Rivera was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for psychological evaluation.
