Have you seen this man? If so, Arlington police want to talk, and you could be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers.
The man was videotaped trying to steal a police "bait" vehicle about 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, according to Tiara Ellis Richard, spokeswoman for Arlington Police Department.
The vehicle was a pickup truck parked in the 500 block of Woodcrest Lane.
It was put there by C.O.B.R.A. (Covert Organized Bait Recovery and Apprehension) -- a cooperative effort between APD, the Fort Worth Police Department, the National Insurance Crime Bureau and the Tarrant Regional Auto Crimes Task Force.
Video surveillance taken from the interior of the pickup (below) shows the man try to start it with a tool. His efforts failed, so he left, leaving damage to the steering column.
"The suspect is most visible at the two points in the video -- at (the) 34-second point and at one minute and 38 seconds," according to an APD news release.
Anyone with information about this man can call Detective Charlie Tutor at 817-459-5308 or Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS (8477). Tipsters may remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
