A registered sex offender was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison for new charges of raping his ex-girlfriend on three occasions late last year, prosecutors said.
Percy Goodspeed, 32, of Fort Worth (shown here) pleaded guilty to three cases of aggravated sexual assault and two cases of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit sexual assault — each involving the ex-girlfriend.
The final rape happened in late November 2011 when the woman was scheduled to be meeting with a police detective about the previous assaults, prosecutors said.
"She was raped physically and mentally by a man she once loved and trusted," prosecutor Christy Jack said. "There is no greater betrayal."
Goodspeed also pleaded guilty to one case of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and evading detention in a vehicle. Prosecutors said he had three prior felony convictions and he was a registered sex offender.
He received 40 years on all seven of the new cases. Read more here.
