A 76-year-old Fort Worth man fought off a would-be robber who confronted him in his backyard Thursday, police say.
The man was sitting in his yard in the 2600 block of McLemore Ave. off Sylvania Avenue when an unknown male with a weapon approached him and demanded money, according to police. The man's 63-year-old wife, who was inside the home, opened the back door and also was confronted by the robber.
The robber grabbed several items from inside the home and started to leave but the woman's husband grabbed him and started a struggle, police said.
The robber eventually fled without the stolen items with a second suspect who was hiding, police said.
Neither the husband or wife were injured.
