Police are asking the public for information that might lead to the arrest of a rapist who targets prostitutes on or near East Lancaster Avenue.
The police department’s sex crimes unit has recently investigated several sexual assaults "that are similar in description to one another," Officer Clifton Miller, police spokesman, said in a news release.
He said the victims have been "who engage in sexual acts for money" along the East Lancaster corridor.
The man has been described as "medium to heavyset," Miller said.
"He was primarily described as a Hispanic male," Miller added, "but in one report he was described as a male mixed with Hispanic and black."
Various vehicles have been described by victims, Miller said, but "silver seems to be the suspect’s preferred color."
Detectives have already identified a person of interest who was arrested two weeks ago.
But, Miller said, "more of the investigative process must take place before a link can be established." No other information about that person was immediately on Tuesday.
"At this point," Miller added, "we are still moving forward with each criminal investigation on a case by case basis."
Anyone with information can call Sgt. Michael Williams at 817-392-4351. They can also contact Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS (8477) or go online www.469tips.com. Callers can remain anonymous and they may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
