A Weatherford man was indicted Thursday for capital murder in the October stabbing death of a woman who rented a home from his family, prosecutors said.
Hector Trejo, 28, is accused of killing Linda Preston, 47, on Oct. 11 at the home in the 1600 block of Wildwood Trail in Weatherford.
An indictment means that a grand jury has determined there is enough evidence to bring a case to trial. Capital murder is punishable by the death penalty.
According to earlier reports, Trejo, in October, had just been paroled from prison after serving time for robbery.
Preston’s husband came home and found her body. She had been stabbed repeatedly and her car was missing.
Investigators said they subsequently learned that Trejo argued with Preston over her refusal to let him use her car, which was recovered later.
Trejo was arrested Oct. 12 at an apartment complex in wast Fort Worth. The manhunt included sheriff’s deputies, Texas Rangers and U.S. Marshals.
Trejo on Thursday was still being held with no bail set at the Parker County Jail.
