Dallas police closed down a rooster-fighting operation late Saturday, detaining 20 people and finding at least 200 birds on the property.
Some of the roosters were badly injured, and authorities found at least 15 dead birds, Dallas police said.
The number of roosters could increase once investigators search the entire property in the 4700 block of North Counts Boulevard in west Dallas, police said.

"Rooster-fight"? Really? I guess the age-old name for the now-illegal (and rightfully so) gambling activity is considered, what?, too smutty in some perverse, narrow-(and dirty-minded)- way? Cock-fighting is cock-fighting, now matter why or how you at the newspaper want to prettify it up. Most of us out here are fully adult enough to be trusted not to giggle like a school girl or express manufactured "moral outrage" upon hearing the historically correct phrase. But we do note your lack of trust in us.
