West Handley Elementary was temporarily locked down Wednesday morning after two parents exchanged blows in a fight over positioning in the child drop-off lane.
According to a Fort worth police report, officers were called to the school at 2749 Putnam Street shortly before 8 a.m. on a report of two men fighting in front of the school.
According to the men's statements to police, the 49-year-old man had been behind the 30-year-old man in the drop-off line when the older man tried to move his car in front of the other. The 30-year-old refused to let the older man inside the lane by speeding his vehicle up and forcing him to go straight.
Both men then got out of their cars and exchanged words, the police report states.
The 49-year-old man told police that the younger man then kicked his car, prompting a physical fight.
The report states the school's principal locked the school down due to the fight until Fort Worth police arrived on the scene.
Both men were ticketed for disorderly conduct/fighting.

No, I do not think the school should have been on lock-down.. I think these idiotic parents should be barred from ever returning.. Let another (hopefully more sane) family member pick up the kids.. These parents have displayed the worst attitudes in front of other children and should be chastised for their actions.

Both guys should have been moved to the local jail, their cars impounded, and given a restraining order to both stay away from the school for 6 months.
Good grief, the students were more grown up than the fathers!

The principal should've dragged them both to his or her office by the ear.

Yes, the school should have been put on lock down. With all the crazy people and, the violence in the world today you can never be to safe. It is better to err on the side of safety than not to. I was there that day and it was scary for the children and they need to know how to be prepared at all times.
