Police are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide of a Pennsylvania man and his estranged wife at a home in the Denton County community of Little Elm.
The incident was reported 5:09 p.m. Thursday 2600 block of Misty Harbor Drive, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office, which serves Denton County. The neighborhood is near the northeast shore of Lake Lewisville.
According to records, the home was the address of 33-year-old Bethany Shaffer. Her death was listed as homicide — "shot by another person," the medical examiner reported.
The medical examiner also reported that Robert Shaffer, 38, committed suicide by self-inflicted gunshot.
The Morning Call in Allentown, Penn. learned that Bethany and Robert Shaffer were originally from the Lehigh Valley area, but they moved to North Texas last summer for Robert’s job.
At some point they separated. Bethany moved with their son to her father’s home in Little Elm while Robert lived in Frisco, the newspaper reported.
Police said Robert came to the home to discuss the sale of their house back in Pennsylvania, according to The Morning Call, but there was gunfire.

Until we learn that marriage is not ownership we will continue to have incidents like this. When is mankind going to learn to control their emotions? Envy, jealousy.. Loss of material objects all play a part in divorce/separation, then the emotions dictate the final outcome. Tragic.
