A Weatherford man admitted to using a pickax to kill an "acquaintance" overnight at a home in the 200 block of Valley Meadows Drive in Springtown, according to a news release from Sheriff Larry Fowler.
Responding to a welfare call, deputies drove to the home and encountered Nicholas David Camfield, 24, of Weatherford, who reportedly was house-sitting.
He was drenched in blood.
In the master bedroom, deputies found the body of another man covered with a blanket.
Camfield told them about the pickax, according to the news release.
He also said that the victim, who appeared to be in his 20s, was an acquaintance.
"This was a particularly brutal homicide," Fowler said.
Texas Rangers have been called in to help determine the motive.
