The case of a Dallas real estate agent who avoided arrest for the brutal slaying of a Fort Worth mother for more than two decades until fingerprints linked him to the crime, will be featured Sunday on the Investigation Discovery channel's On the Case with Paula Zahn.
Jay Thayer Williams was convicted of capital murder in 2011in the sexual assault and fatal shooting of Sandra Martin. Martin's two young children had been watching television in a nearby room when the 27-year-old woman was bound, gagged and slain on Sept. 22, 1986, by a man posing as a prospective buyer for the family's home.
The case had gone unsolved until 2009, when Fort Worth police learned that a national fingerprint database matched William's prints to those found on duct tape that had been wrapped around Martin's head.
Williams had been in the database due to a 1984 conviction for driving with a suspended license out of Temple.
The show, titled "A Knock on the Door," airs at 9 p.m. central time on the ID channel.
