A practical joke at an Arlington insurance office went awry Thursday night when a man found himself locked inside a 10-foot by 10-foot vault, a fire official said.
A worker at the office on Randol Mill Road was inside the vault when a couple of other workers thought it would be funny to shut him inside, said Lt. Kevin Seeton, an Arlington fire spokesman.
“They thought they had the combination, but apparently they didn’t,” he said.
Fire crews were summoned to the office where they cut through the vault with power tools and freed the man, he said.
The man was uninjured, Seeton said.
“It was probably more embarrassing than anything."
