A man was shot in the leg late Tuesday in east Fort Worth, police said.
Police were called to the scene of a fight around 10 p.m. in the 3400 block of Avenue L. The area is about five blocks southeast of Texas Wesleyan University.
However, the man who was shot apparently made his way to 3200 block of Avenue J, about four blocks southeast of where the fight was reported, according to police records.
That’s where he called for an ambulance, said Capt. Kevin Rodricks, police spokesman.
The man was taken by MedStar to a Fort Worth hospital.
A gunshot wound to the leg is considered "critical," Rodricks said, but this man’s wound did not appear to be life threatening.
Rodricks, who was contacted at about 11:10 p.m. at the Avenue L location, said officers were trying to figure out what lead up to the shooting.
"We surmise this is where the subject got shot," Rodricks said, "but I don’t know what started it. Right now we have (patrol) units spanning out over a half-mile radius, digging into leads."
No other information was available late Tuesday.
