A 46-year-old man was in the hospital Tuesday after he was stabbed repeatedly during an early-morning robbery in downtown Fort Worth, police said.
Police were called around 2:15 a.m. to the 600 block of Houston Street where the incident occurred, said Capt. Kevin Rodricks, police spokesman.
The victim reportedly had just left a bar and stopped to ask a question of two men standing outside, Rodricks said.
He intended to pay each man a dollar for the information, but one man tried to get all of the money and stabbed the victim four times, Rodricks said.
Police learned during the investigation that the suspect was a "panhandler pretty widely known in the downtown area," Rodricks said.
"We conducted a massive ground search," he added.
An arrest reportedly was made in the case, but details were unavailable late Tuesday night.
