Van Dralan Dixson, 38, was a fugitive as of Monday night, said Dallas police Maj. Jeff Cotner.
Cotner also said police had taken Dixson into custody briefly last week and obtained a DNA sample from him, but did not have evidence to bring charges at that time.
And here's DPD's statement from its Facebook page.
And let's not forget about Alan Mason, who was named a person of interest in this case last week and has been in jail since Sept. 6.
Mason was picked up on a warrant for an unrelated case, but police have questioned him about the rapes.
Mason told NBC Channel 5 in jailhouse interview that he wants police to clear his name.
"I do want to say, that I am a victim," he said in the interview, "but the true victims are those that have been raped and I pray for them every day." See more about the interview at NBCdfw.com.
