A man who identified himself as a member of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas is going to prison after pleading guilty to sending threatening letters to federal officials.
Jesse Brister, whose alias is “Bozo,” wrote letters in March that suggested that if the federal government didn't back away from ABT members, bombs would be planted in their cars.
Approximately 10 days after Brister wrote his first letter, Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife were gunned down in what appeared to be an assassination, prosecutors said.
It turns out that the ABT had nothing to do with those killings, but officials didn't give him a pass on the threats he made.
He was sentenced in Dallas on Friday to 4 1/2 years in federal prison.
