More police documents emerged Friday in the Fort Worth police officer's fatal shooting of Jerry Waller last May at his Woodhaven home.
A 26-page overview includes some of Officer R.A. “Alex” Hoeppner's own words about what he recalled.
He told investigators that he repeatedly told Waller to drop his gun and that at one point Waller asked “why?” (Page 4) and also told the officers to “get that light out of my eyes ((Page 5)."
Hoeppner said Waller put the gun down, but then "scrambled" to pick it back up (Page 5), and that's when the officer opened fire, striking the man repeatedly.
He continued, “I was almost like he had the attitude of you … you cannot tell me what to do with my gun in my … you know, in my castle. It’s almost like, you can’t tell me what do (Page 15).”
Art Bender, the Waller family's lawyer, scoffed at the new information in an emailed response to the Star-Telegram.
