UPDATE: The two people were identified Patrol Sgt. Nick Pitofsky, 47, of the Crandall Police Department and his wife Vanessa, 42, according to WFAA Channel 8. They lived in Dallas, but he was a police officer in Crandall, about 20 miles southeast of Dallas.
FROM EARLIER: Dallas police are investigating the slayings of a man and a woman in Dallas, and the man has been identified as an "officer from another city."
Details were limited at 4 p.m., but here's a press release from the DPD media relations unit:
"On February 26, 2014, at about 12:05 p.m., officers responded to a welfare check in the 1800 block of Browder. Upon arrival, officers requested DFR who breached the front door. Once inside, officers found a male and female deceased inside the residence from gunshot wounds. The male suspect is a police officer in a neighboring suburban city. This offense is still under investigation and next of kin has not been made."
Moments later, Lt. Max Geron, media relations supervisor, added this comment on Twitter: " ... not actively searching for a suspect related to Browder. Deceased male at scene was officer from another city."
This sounds like a murder suicide, although DPD hasn't officially said that yet.
