The parents of a toddler found dead at a Fort Worth apartment Saturday had been investigated for allegations of child abuse four times before, officials said.
Anthony Segora, 2, was beaten to death late Saturday, according to reports. But records show there were problems with the family even before he was born.
Child Protective Services investigated the family in 2010 for neglectful supervision and physical abuse of two other children in the home. Records show that the parents completed a drug program to resolve the case.
A second investigation began when Anthony was born in September 2011 because he tested positive for drugs, according to CPS records. The mother attended another drug program, records show.
CPS officials began a third investigation on Jan. 2, 2013 on suspicion of medical and physical abuse, but they couldn't follow up because the family could not be found.
At some point, the father left the home and the mother got a boyfriend who was baby-sitting when he called 911 to report the child was unresponsive. He, too, has a criminal record.
