An escaped murderer from Mexico has been executed in Texas for fatally beating a former Baylor University history professor and attacking his wife near Kerrville in 1997, The Associated Press reported.
Ramiro Hernandez-Llanas, 44, was lethally injected Wednesday evening in the state's death chamber in Huntsville. He was pronounced dead at 6:28 p.m.
He was in the U.S. illegally when he was arrested for the October 1997 slaying of Glen Lich.
Hernandez-Llanas is the sixth Texas prisoner executed this year and second in a week to receive lethal injection with a new supply of pentobarbital, the AP reported.
Michael Graczyk of the AP covered the execution of Hernandez-Llanas. Read his report here.
