"Now, I for one, am a strong believer in small-town justice," Conan declared at the outset. "So here's what I did. I visited with the Sheriff of Johnson County, located 50 miles south of Dallas to see if I had what it takes to become a county deputy. Yeah, yeah, take a look."
His tutor was Sheriff Bob Alford -- a good choice.
And, as you can see from the video (linked below), he did not take himself too seriously.
Alford warned his red-headed cadet that he was going to have to get his hands dirty.
"You got to eat the beans and wear the jeans," Alford said. "You got to get in there with the guy."
During a visit to the shooting simulator, Conan managed to shoot everyone on the screen, including innocent bystanders.
"I like to take out the trash before it stinks," Conan said.
