Cleburne police on Monday got a call from someone who said Sam Ball, a longtime aviation services provider at the local airport, had killed his wife.
A police lieutenant met with Ball, 83, at his business. The fixed base operator said he and his wife, Betty, had argued and fought earlier, and that she had fallen off the couch at home.
Meanwhile, a patrol officer was making a forced entry at the couple's home where he found Betty Ball on the couch, wrapped in a blanket.
She was dead.
“Betty Ann Ball had massive trauma to her head and face area that was inconsistent with a ‘fall’ from the couch,” according to a probable cause warrant in the case.
