If you want to arm and equip an army -- or a drug cartel -- the tools of the trade are readily available on the black market and much of it is coming from U.S. government inventories, the El Paso Times reports in a story by reporter Chris Roberts.
Everything from jet fighter parts to automatic weapons and body armor is readily available, the newspaper says, attributing the information to a 2008 Government Accountability Office report.
And you don't have to visit back alleys or motel rooms with drawn curtains.
A lot of it is available on the Internet. Some of the dealers say they bought the equipment from American servicemen, while others say it was obtained from government liquidators.
Some experts fear that the weaponry and equipment that has fallen into the hands of the deadly Mexican drug cartels could eventually create mayhem in the U.S., too.
