Arlington driver who couldn't steer straight busted for drugs

An Arlington man missed this lesson: With marijuana stuffed in the trunk of your vehicle, you'd better obey every traffic law. But after Chandler Marquis Moore, 21, of Arlington twice ran off the road in Louisiana, state police there pulled him over, a Louisiana newspaper reports. Missed lesson two: Get your stories straight. Moore and his front-seat passenger gave different accounts of where they were going. After a K9 alerted to drugs in the vehicle, state police reported finding 16.3 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle. Moore now faces various drug charges - and a count of improper lane usage. - Lois Norder

Rocks used as weapon in Kansas City coffee shop robbery

Sticks and stones may break my bones but they can also be used in a robbery.

NBC Action News reports that a Kansas City coffee shop was robbed Tuesday but three people with backpacks full of rocks.

One of the workers at the coffee shop told police that two men and a woman tried to rob the business by "hitting him over the head with backpacks full of rocks."

Surveillance footage shows two suspects attacking the man with a backpack but ran away when the employee was able to escape through the front door.

The suspects were arrested after the attempt as they tried to flee the scene.

The employee suffered minor injuries to his head and shoulder and nothing was reported stolen in the robbery attempt.

Two of the suspects have been charged in the crime. Michael P. Luzar, was charged with one count of attempted first-degree robbery and Gary L. Winslow, 51, was charged with one count of second-degree robbery and attempted first-degree robbery.

No word on whether the third suspect will be facing any charges.

Aspiring robbers, take this as a teaching moment before you decide to rob your local Starbucks by beating the barista over the head with a backpack full of rocks.

Maybe next time they will use a pointed stick.

The price is wrong for angry Taco Bell customer

A three hour standoff in San Antonio Sunday began with the rising price of a burrito.

The Associated Press reports that a Taco Bell customer bought seven Beefy Crunch Burritos and was enraged to find out that the price had gone from 99 cents to $1.49.

Upset about the price change, the man then allegedly fired an air gun at an employee and later fired an assault rifle at officers during a traffic stop after the Taco Bell incident.

The man ended up barricading himself into a hotel room for three hours before San Antonio police used tear gas to drive him out.

The man, whose name has not been released by police, is now charged with three counts of attempted capital murder.

Cookbook author outsmarts cooky car thieves

Here's our dumb criminal story of the day.

The New York Post reports that two men were arrested after they stole a cookbook author's Lexus and then tried to sell it back to him. The owner already had reported the car stolen to police.

The thieves' imaginative plan hit a snag when the car got towed after one of the men had called the 71-year-old author, Richard Grausman.  The thieves still arranged to meet with Grausman, however, to return the keys and documents for the car.

Guess who was waiting. You got it. The cops.

Police: Burglar checks facebook on victim's computer; fails to log out

We all love a good "dumb criminal," story and when it involves social networking Web sites, it's even better.

A man was arrested on burglary charges in West Virginia after police say he used his victim's computer to check his Facebook status while committing a burglary and forgot to log out.

The victim noticed the use of the computer and that her two diamond rings were missing. Police were able to track down the 19-year-old man and arrest him.

The victim probably won't be adding him to her "friends" list any time soon.

Man leaves name, number before robbing record store

We love it when crooks act dumb. Take the guy in New Zealand who robbed a record shop's till after leaving his name and phone number on an order for a copy of Pink Floyd's The Wall.

To top that, he was a regular customer and had other records on order, as well.

Police predict they won't have any trouble finding him.
