Police in Connecticut say that a body found in a New Jersey river is that of a 2-year-old girl whose remains apparently were stolen from her Connecticut grave.
The body was discovered Sunday afternoon by two men who were fishing in the Passaic River in Clifton, N.J. The body was at the shoreline in a bag, police said.
Investigators linked the body to the grave of a girl who was buried in 2007 in Stamford, Conn. The grave was exhumed and the coffin was empty, police said. The theft did not appear to be recent, they said.
