Kids returned to their mom

Two young children found wandering around a Euless apartment complex have been have been reunited with their mother.

Police said the two -- a boy believed to be 18 months old and a girl believed to be about 3 -- wandered shoeless for more than two hours Friday afternoon before a baby sitter woke up and realized they had walked out the front door. Mom got the kids back after they were placed in the care of Child Protective Services, police said.

Children found wandering near Euless apartment complex in CPS custody

The two kids found wandering around a Euless apartment complex, believed to be a 3-year-old girl and 18-month-old boy, are in the custody of Child Protective Services, police said.

The children were found by police in the 700 block of East Ash Lane barefoot, and were both wearing dirty diapers. Police said the children were healthy and happy.

The children speak some English and Spanish but not enough to tell police their names or where they live, police said.

The boy is wearing a white T-shirt with gray and blue stripes on the sleeves. He has brown hair and eyes and is not circumcised.

The girl has a pink sleeveless dress on with white flowers embroidered on the upper left side. She has pink nail polish painted on her fingernails and toenails and has only her left ear pierced with a dark red gemstone in it.

Toddlers found wandering at Euless apartment complex

According to Euless police radio chatter, a police officer has found two children wandering around a Euless apartment complex barefoot, dehydrated and with dirty diapers.

This happens a lot when parents are sleeping and children get out the front door, police have said.

The officer told dispatchers that one of the children was able to point at the building and say "Mommy" but not to a specific apartment. The officer told dispatchers that she was going to take the kids back to the department, get them some fresh diapers and fluids, and call Child Protective Services.
