A man and a woman were found shot to death Monday afternoon in a home on the north side of Lake Lewisville Monday in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide.
Their identities, however, were unavailable late Monday.
"Names are being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin," said Tom Reedy, spokesman for the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, in a news release.
Reedy noted, however, that investigators believe the woman as the murder victim.
The crime scene was on Lakeview Drive in Providence Village, a new incorporated community off of U.S. 380.
Deputies went there 11:40 a.m. Saturday to respond to a domestic disturbance, Reedy said.
A woman, Reedy said, "was trying to move out of the house that she shared with her boyfriend, but that he was preventing her from entering the house to retrieve her belongings."
Deputies reported that no assault had occurred and that "both parties had separated to stay with friends until a later date," Reedy said.
But on Monday, deputies were called back to the home at 2:48 p.m. by a person who planned to meet the woman early Monday morning, but she didn’t show up, Reedy said.
The caller "had helped the woman move out of a domestic disturbance situation and that her car was in the driveway, but no one answered the door," Reedy said.
The caller also said a neighbor had heard "thumps" and "door slamming" coming early Monday morning, before 6 a.m., Reedy said.
