Man accused of mutilating pregnant wife's body with key

A man in New York City has been arrested after hospital workers prepping his wife for chidbirth discovered that she had ugly slurs carved into her body.

Ulebek Khakimos, 26, is accused of using a house key to gouge chunks of his wife's flesh out and then of threatening to kill her and her baby, the New York Daily News reported.

The skin carvings, on her chest, thighs, neck and stomach, spelled out the slurs in Cyrillic, the language of her native Uzbekistan, the News reported. The couple were married last year in that country and he's not being charged with any mutilations that occurred in Uzbekistan, only the ones inflicted in the United States, the paper reported.

"He started beating me on the day of our wedding," Ozodoa Khakimov, 23, the Daily News. "One time he wrote bad words on my leg, and another time with a key on my neck."
